Promotional Exhibition Posters
"It was an honour to be selected as the promotional poster designer for West Liberty University’s Nutting Gallery. This opportunity was a significant learning experience and marked my first step into applied graphic design work, seeing my designs come to life and used for promotion across campus and social media. I had the chance to collaborate with a wide range of artists, each with their own distinct style and creative vision. Designing for such diverse exhibitions challenged me to adapt creatively and thoughtfully integrate different artistic voices while maintaining a cohesive visual identity. Working under tight deadlines taught me how to work efficiently and manage time effectively. Overall this is an experience that continues to shape my approach to design today."

Design Goal
This series of posters was created to promote exhibitions presented in the Nutting Gallery, and reflect its overall mission of artistic diversity. The Nutting Gallery presents visiting-artist shows, faculty exhibitions, and student capstone work, encompassing a wide range of styles and mediums. Each promotional exhibition poster aims to reflect the distinct style of the featured artist, and captures the essence of the exhibition.
A Kind of Heaven by guest artist Chase Bowman featured a collection of surreal and absurd works that explored the intersection of whimsy and curiousity. The poster design reflects this eccentric spirit through an abstract diagonal layout that breaks traditional structure, mirroring the unconventional nature of the exhibition. Custom and found typefaces were combined to echo the artist’s creative, peculiar style, while a light color palette tied visually to Bowman’s work. Text and images appear taped onto the poster, adding a tactile quality, drawing inspiration from the artist’s work and reinforcing the exhibition’s experimental tone.
Prā (Prey/Pray), was an photography exhibition featuring guest artist Jesse Lenz. It showcased a series of curious, thought-provoking, and surreal black-and-white images. To reflect the tone of the work, the design embraced a restrained greyscale colour palette, reflecting the images, and allowing the photography to remain the focal point. The title, set with subtle transparency over the image, creates a sense of depth and ambiguity that complements the photography. The design mirrors the contrast and harmony present in the artist’s exploration of the natural world.
The Spring Senior Exhibition 2023 showcased the capstone projects of graduating Media and Visual Art majors, celebrating the culmination of their studies and creative growth. The poster design captures the fresh, uplifting spirit of spring through lively colors, layered geometric shapes, and a playful composition. Overlapping shapes reflect the diversity and collaboration within the program, representing the intersection of disciplines and artistic voices. Typography with soft drop shadows adds depth, complementing the vibrant layout and creating a sense of dimensionality and excitement. The design is unified and forward-looking, celebrating connection among artists, disciplines, and shared creative growth. Altogether, the poster forms a dynamic, energetic, and cohesive composition that highlights the individuality of each graduating artist while capturing the optimism and vibrancy of spring and graduation.
The Show Without a Theme, was an exhibition featuring work from West Liberty University’s art faculty members, showcasing a wide range of artistic styles and media. To represent this diversity while maintaining visual harmony, I designed the poster using a primarily black and white palette accented with a bold teal for contrast and emphasis. Geometric forms and the interplay of positive and negative space created a structured yet dynamic layout. A custom type treatment with elongated letterforms and a clean, modern grid helped tie the variety of faculty work together into one cohesive, contemporary visual statement.
