Design Goal
Dock at Sunrise is an illustrated landscape postcard design inspired by the serene mountain lakes of British Columbia. The goal of this project was to capture the peaceful, contemplative mood of a sunrise over a mountain lake into a shareable memory, highlighting the natural beauty and atmosphere of the landscape.The design aims to emphasize aesthetic harmony, using layered gradients, soft colour transitions, and transparency. This piece aims to explore the intersection of colour, light, and composition to create a visually immersive piece.
Key Aspects of Design
Colour and Gradient: A palette of muted teals, greens, soft pinks, and warm highlights mimics the natural lighting of sunrise, creating a serene and cohesive visual experience.
Layering and Depth: Multiple layers of geometric forms and transparency were used to create depth and perspective, enhancing the sense of space and tranquility in the scene.
Composition: The layout guides the viewer’s eye balancing the dock, water, boats, and mountain elements to evoke a harmonious, immersive environment.
Visual Tone: The design communicates calmness, reflection, and a sense of quiet beauty, highlighting both technical skill and sensitivity to natural forms.
