Design Goal
The Late July Tortilla Chip packaging redesign reimagines the brand’s visual identity to align more closely with a health-conscious, environmentally aware audience while enhancing shelf presence in a competitive snack category. The goal of this project was to create a contemporary, sustainable, and visually compelling packaging system that balances wellness, responsibility, and brand recognition. The design emphasizes clean layouts, refined hierarchy, and eco-conscious materials, aiming to communicate quality, transparency, and mindful snacking. This project explores how functionality, visual appeal, and sustainability can work together to create packaging that is both practical and resonates emotionally with consumers.
Key Aspects of Design
Functionality and Packaging: Eco-conscious choices, including compostable materials and lightweight construction, reinforce the brand’s commitment to environmental responsibility while reducing shipping impact. A resealable zipper improves usability by keeping chips fresh and encouraging repeat use, while the durable, lightweight design ensures easy handling and storage, seamlessly combining practicality with visual and tactile appeal.
Emotional and Experiential Tone: The combination of natural materials, clean graphics, and thoughtful design fosters trust and approachability, creating an emotional connection with consumers who value mindful, responsible snacking.
Visual Hierarchy: Essential information, including the brand name, product type, key qualities, nutrition facts, certifications, and other regulatory details, are carefully structured within a clear hierarchy that balances functionality and visual appeal. The layout integrates required legal and informational elements with the overall design, ensuring legibility, easy navigation on crowded shelves, and a clean, approachable, and visually engaging presentation.
Brand Integration: The existing Late July logo remains central to the packaging, integrated within a modern layout and complemented by subtle nature-inspired graphics, enhancing shelf visibility while maintaining strong brand recognition.
