The WLU Campus Woods Trails promote access to nature, support wellness and outdoor learning, and reflect the university’s values of sustainability, education, and community connection. As a uniquely branded campus feature, the trails enhance both the WLU experience and its identity.
Shaping The Trails
Prior to this project, the WLU Campus Woods Trails lacked a cohesive visual identity, a comprehensive signage system, and a consistent presence on campus, limiting their use, recognition, and potential impact on student life and the university brand.
The WLU Campus Woods Trail project aims to establish the trails as a distinct, identifiable resource. It transformed an underutilized natural resource into a hub for community engagement and wellness. Through clear signage, thoughtful design, and a cohesive visual identity, the trails offer a welcoming and enriching experience, encouraging people to step outside, and connect with the environment. With a refreshed identity, the trails became an integral part of the WLU experience for all members of the WLU community.
Through intentional design this project transformed the trail system, raising student and community awareness, providing opportunities for engagement and outdoor wellness, and connecting the trails to WLU’s broader identity and values.
